With no more than a red nose and some black lines under his eyes, Yuri relied upon his whimsical and endearing talent to entertain the audience. He was epitome of the everyday Russian citizen - versatile and resolute. His movies, whether they were drama or his specialty - comedy, always identified themselves with the common aches and humor of Soviet life.
Here below, is Yuri, immortalized in bronze, in front of his beloved Moscow Circus/Московский цирк. ( he was it's Director from 1982 1997-his death ) Moscow Circus

is a classic Nikulin short movie. Part of a larger series, of funny misadventures involving the three criminal masterminds. This particular module was nominated for Best Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival 1961
