Virginia is a foster mother to the endless supply of kittens which find themselves at: The Cattery Cat Shelter
of Corpus Christi Texas.
Look!! at those gorgeous eyes! |
The shelter advocates a "cage-free" environment for it's residents and keeps the cats segregated by age groups. Due to her disabilities, Virginia is kept with the wee little ones, such as these two:
She acts as mom, nurse and friend, to the kittens. If they get into situations in which they cannot handle - such as getting on top of the cat trees and can't get down ( "it's really scary up here!" ), Virginia will come to their rescue!...so does that make her a rescuer as well? She also makes sure that the little ones are bathed and will force them to lie down with her, while she washes them up.
The Cattery Cat Shelter has a "no kill" policy, and spay and neuter the felines before they are adopted out.
The shelter also heavily promotes this policy within the Corpus Christi community (which has an abysmal record of such) - in order to prevent more discarded cats. The founder of the shelter, Scott Person
describes them as "second-class citizens" and "throwaway pets".
hmm....isn't that the truth?
He also offers a low-cost clinic for spaying/neutering the local pet population. ( "no really, we are just going out for an ice cream....no need for alarm ......

SA-LICE !!!)
Sweet place for a cat hangout... |
Virginia anxiously waits by her bedroom door, meowing.
She is anticipating the next litter of kittens to be cared for.
