The Walking Snakehead Fish

Say Cheese!
Check out this walking nightmare from Thailand; it's called a Snakehead Fish

Personally, I think that it looks like a Catfish, with it's whiskers....
.....a few facts to chill your blood:
  • It can live for up to 4 days on land
  • there is up to 35 different species
  • range in size from 9 inches to over 3 feet
  • can migrate over land
The little darlings are considered to be a high level "invasive species"; as they are at the top of the food chain and basically "out rank" the other predators. They will eat plankton and shell fish while growing up, and then graduate to frogs and small mammals....such as rats, cats and chickens when they get bigger.

It is illegal to own a Snakehead Fish in many American states.
However....... these fish have already become firmly established, as far north as the Potomac River.
.......

..........Huh???!!

YES!!!

Bu - But how?

My theory is that: they boarded a plane from Thailand bound for Maryland, and upon arriving in the USA, said: "hey!!! these are temperate waters, and well, even though we are used to the humid tropics, that's close enough for us!!!"
- whoo hoo -
- everybody jump in!!!

NO!!!

):

It is because they are often sold while still alive, for the purpose of "better" eating; but then, instead of cooking-up (yummy yummy) the nasty little things; the A-holes  who buy them, proceed to release the fish into the wild!!!! ( well why don't we just ruin every bodies' lives - tee hee- )

Alright, let's move along to a happier subject.....

Here we have an adorable Catfish, not far from the deserted Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
He is enjoying all the petting....so sweet!
oh! no biting!
I bet he can even talk! ( no joke - he probably can! )

And a few of the other very.....very large Catfish, which lurk live in the same waters:

Oh!!!
and
How cute!!!

-because in this video, let's see how these same Catfish get their food.....by hunting the stupid pigeons....

hmmm  - nothing unusual here!
