Picnic on a Floating Iceberg....

sailing away to the sunset

Some tourists in Iceland (Americans as it turns out - heh heh), thought it would be a pretty sweet deal to have a picnic out on an iceberg. They brought the chairs and a table to Fjallsarlon lake, in south east-Iceland.

it's somewhere in here
a fine place to have a picnic
They found a random piece of ice floating nearby....
.....and climbed aboard.

Everything was going according to their hair-brained plan, when suddenly the wind (that strange blowy-thing that vexes picnics on icebergs) sprang up and began to....well....blow the picnickers and their iceberg away from land!

One member of the group promptly bailed -like a rat running from the light- and sought help. The other four, remained (calmly) behind, to await rescue. It ended up, that they were only 10 meters (around 30 ft.) off of dry land, but no one felt like swimming the icy distance to safety. brrr!!!

Rescue teams arrived and ended the misadventure.

p.s.
I don't know what was on the menu for the picnic; but judging by the rest of the brilliant plan, probably potato chips.
