Luka (Suzanne Vega)

Soon it will be October/Октябрьand for that month, I will be assailing you with all sorts of exciting Halloween/Harvest Themed posts!

It's soo exciting!!!

Ha Ha!!!
......

In the mean time meh here is another info-music-post for your enjoyment.

"Luka"

The very beautiful Suzanne Vega singing about the evils of child abuse.
Released in 1987 the song Luka reached #3 on Billboard's Top 100 Songs for the year.

In a time, when issues such as child abuse were not sung about; the story of a troubled boy named Luka, was an unusual subject to be featured in song. That it would go on to become a hit song, owes itself to the talented Suzanne Vega and her lovely, raspy voice.

Miss Vega certainly had that "Audrey Hepburn" look as you can clearly see:

Born Jul 11 1959 in Santa Monica California, Suzanne's family moved to New York when she was very young. She attended The High School of Performing Arts and wrote her first song at the age of 14 - what it was called, I have no idea......
Suzanne began to play at small venues in Greenwich Village, and would eventually be discovered by a major recording company in 1984.

Her first album: Suzanne Vega was released in 1985 and it was both a critical and commercial success.

Her second album: Solitude Standing (1987) included the powerful song Luka

(2008) looking good!

When asked: "When you can touch so many people with songs like Luka, it must be pretty rewarding"
Suzanne replied: "Yeah. It's an amazing feeling. Especially since that particular song is a special song. It's a song about child abuse, so therefore it does touch a lot of people in a different way...."
